Lecture Theatre Refurbishment, QMU

Great start to the month as we secure an exciting project with Queen Margaret University. The works involve the refurbishment of their lecture theatre space. This includes the strip out and replacement of redundant M&E services to suit the re-configured room positioning, removal of existing flooring and replacement of new carpet tiles. The lecture theatre will be redecorated throughout and completed with the installation of new acoustic panels and baffles.

We will be working in collaboration with Niall Young Architecture Ltd, Harley Haddow, F3 Building Surveyors Limited and Sandy Brown Associates

Jake Allan – Apprentice Bench Hand Joiner

More great news for SJS this week, Jake Allan became the newest member of the bespoke manufacturing joinery team as an Apprentice Bench Hand Joiner. We wish Jake every success as he starts his new career.

Congratulations to our apprentices

Congratulations to Caitlin, Libby and Brian on completing their 2-year college programme and all achieving their SVQ in Carpentry and Joinery. Caitlin and Brian also passed their skills test to become fully qualified Bench Hand Joiners. The development of staff here at SJS is very important to us and we are excited to see what they bring to future projects!

Murrayburn Primary School, Bespoke Manufacturing

We hope the staff and students of Murrayburn Primary School enjoy their new classroom areas now that SJS have added some bespoke bookcases and nooks. All produced in our specialist joinery manufacturing facility for the City of Edinburgh Council. Looks like a great spot to enjoy a good book!

Edinburgh Business School Refurbishment

Above is a collection of images from the recently completed refurbishment of Edinburgh Business School at Heriot Watt University. The 18-week live project comprised of the alteration and refurbishment of the first floor and central atrium.  This optimised the use of existing office space with the creation of 12 glazed panelled offices, 2 flexible meeting rooms and a large boardroom. Full works included the installation of new glass partition systems, floor finishes, suspended ceilings and the supply and fit of new kitchen units. In addition, there was an extensive reconfiguration and alteration of existing mechanical and electrical services including a fire alarm system. This was delivered in partnership with Michael Laird Architects, Faithful & Gould (PM), Summers Inman (QS) and Harley Haddow (M&E)

Following the success of this project, SJS secured and are currently delivering the contract for Phase 2 of the Business School refurbishment. We look forward to working with them again!
